Technological transformations change the face of the world and people’s expectations. Nowadays, convincing anyone that for every disease we have a medicine or medical device that fits all will prove to be an impossible task. People are different. They are different not only genetically but also anatomically. Diseases and traumas make them more different. Unfortunately, today we still do not have medicines made specifically for every patient according to this patient’s genetic code and concomitant clinical conditions, however, patient-specific joint endoprostheses and other medical implants are being increasingly widely used in the regenerative medicine, particularly for treatment of complex and rare clinical cases where standard solutions simply cannot be used.
The changing health care services paradigm not only promotes investment into creation of the patient-specific treatment methods, technologies and devices, but also stimulates shifting the emphasis from decision making in operating room to pre-surgical planning. In order to make it possible, there must be easily accessible and simple to use functional pre-surgical planning tools, enabling the surgeons to perform pre-surgical planning of their patients’ surgical treatment in a 3D virtual space.
